About Me:
My story began the summer of 1974. I was born in Washington State to a Filipino father and an American mother and was raised in the American South, thus ManilaExtract is more or less a play on words. I'm a little bit island girl and a whole lot of country wrapped up with a southern drawl. I've lived most of my life in the great state of North Carolina but after many years of hard work and lots of determination, my husband and I made Hawaii our home in 2008.

Why do I give to charity?
In 1996 I visited the Philippines for the first time as a member of a missions group from Emmanuel College. The homeless and victimized children hit close to home. After graduation in 1997 I went back to the Philippines. I volunteered and lived at an orphanage with children who were victims of abuse, worked with youth in various churches, was involved in prison ministry and medical missions in remote villages. It was a life changing experience. Although I can't be physically present in the Philippines today, I hope my talents can bless children like those I met and came to love while I was there. I don't profess to be a celebrated artist or a professional seamstress, but I do have a servant's heart.
