About Me:
I studied Art at Southern Illinois University at Edwardsville, IL where I received a MFA in Fibers and Art History. For over a decade I have directed an arts program at Patchwork Central in inner city Evansville, IN. I enjoy making art with the children from the neighborhood, who often bring me cool items they find themselves in walking through our city’s streets. I like to feel I am helping to create a new generation of redeemers who will look at life in new creative ways.

I also have the fun of working with a women's craft cooperative in Honduras, Central America. These ladies make jewelry and hand made paper and products. I usually get to visit in August when my after school and summer programs are on break in Indiana.
Crafts:
In Lost & Found Objects I couple discarded bits from daily life; lost keys, worn buttons, seashells, small toys, vintage costume jewelry and hardware with interesting semiprecious stone and glass beads - redeeming these objects for a new life. Hung on adjustable black rubber cords, it is my hope that the juxtaposition of the precious with the mundane will cause you the wearer to smile as much as it did me when I created it.

i also make stuffed monsters and dolls from recycled fabrics.
I am a papermaker by training and create sculptures from hand made paper as well as collages using my handmade paper and found objects. Recycling turns my crank!
I have ear marked 10% to a non profit - patchwork central, an innercity art center where anyone can come and make art/ do homework or just make friends and hang out in a safe place after school and in the summer. www.patchwork.org

How to desgn and create your own plushie creation

I started doing plushies for Christmas. I have a shop at www.LilMonsters.etsy.com. I use recycled materials. You can stuff with sweater pieces and then you are not using poly fiber fill. They do make organic cotton fill but it is expensive.
I just taught a week of monster making to kids 9 years old and up. So if they can do it anyone can!

1. Just imagine a monster or animal or person.
2. draw it in a sketch.
3. Make the sketch big as you want you plushie to be
4. simplify it. loose the details.… Continue

eco friendly crafting

I wanted to tell you more about using recycled materials when I craft and make jewelry. I am really into soda pop cans for the graphics that are on the sides. These images are such a common part of our lives and our pop culture. :0) They are wonderful, bold designs that we normally over look. It is using things normally over looked that intrigues me. The can tabs are a resource as well. Did you know there is more than one design for a can tab? One is deferentially a better looking design. I have… Continue

Hi!
I really love the artwork in your store! It's very inspired. :) I'm a newbie here, but I'm trying to introduce myself. I will be writing for the Etsy for Charity blog soon! I just had to let you know how great your stuff was. :)
